ROAD
CONDITIONS
EMERGENCY WEATHER PLAN
The Highland County
Sheriff's Office no longer uses the road condition system created by the Buckeye
State Sheriff's Association which is characterized by Level 1, Level 2 and Level
3. This system has caused some confusion in the county and can be inconsistent.
There have been times when roads in one part of the county were not as bad as
roads in another portion of the county.
Sheriff Ward will
continue to keep the public updated of travel advisories and weather warnings
through the local radio stations. These will only be given when extreme weather
such as blizzard conditions and severe ice storms present severe challenges.
Roads will be closed as necessary, but will be specified to certain areas in the
county.
Please remember
to use caution when going out when winter weather has occurred.
If the roads are snow or ice covered and you do not need to be out,
it is always best to stay in and play it safe.
